Steve Cole ´ 0 characters summary Doctor Who: The Knight, The Fool and The Dead: Time Lord Victorious (Doctor Who: Time Lord Victorious) ¹ PDF, DOC, TXT or eBook We live forever barring accidents Just like everyone else in the universeThe Doctor travels back to the Ancient Days an era where life flourishes and death is barely known Then come the Kotturuh creatures who spread through the cosmos dispensing mortality They judge each and every species and decree its allotted time to live For the first time living things know the fear of ending And they will go to any lengths to escape this grim new spectre death The Doctor is an old hand at cheating death Now at last he can stop it at source He is coming for the Kotturuh ready to change everything so that Life wins from the start Not just the last of the Time Lords The Time Lord Victorious This book was a definite great start for the Tinelord Victorius novel sagaWe meet our protagonist the tenth Doctor at his most vulnerable point Careening from the impact the death of Adelaide Brooke has had on him he runs to the earliest reaches of the universe at a time where life is celebrated But as is oft the case with the Doctor he brings death in his wakeIn this novel we see a Doctor unhinged He s trying to cling on to his morals save life where he can but he s doing it in such a way that he looks set to rewrite all of time It s a very interesting story a should he shouldn t he that almost mirrors the 12th and 4th Doctor s position when they are in a position to neutralise Davros before he beginsThe writing itself is incredibly competent with some absolutely gorgeous imagery The writer clearly knows the source material and has managed to capture the 10th Doctor s uirky spirit incredibly well the character bouncing around the page just as easily as David Tennant bounced around the screenThis book would have been given 5 stars but it suffers the weight that most first books in a series suffer from At times it feels rushed busy too much with setting up future entries in the series than resolving the issues and story at hand Things like the Doctors PTSD are briefly brushed upon in the form of flashbacks but uickly disappearAll in all this book was a fantastic set up and it excites me for the future But dont step into it hoping for a completely rounded out story

Steve Cole ´ 0 characters summary Doctor Who: The Knight, The Fool and The Dead: Time Lord Victorious (Doctor Who: Time Lord Victorious) ¹ PDF, DOC, TXT or eBook We live forever barring accidents Just like everyone else in the universeThe Doctor travels back to the Ancient Days an era where life flourishes and death is barely known Then come the Kotturuh creatures who spread through the cosmos dispensing mortality They judge each and every species and decree its allotted time to live For the first time living things know the fear of ending And they will go to any lengths to escape this grim new spectre death The Doctor is an old hand at cheating death Now at last he can stop it at source He is coming for the Kotturuh ready to change everything so that Life wins from the start Not just the last of the Time Lords The Time Lord Victorious A new Doctor Who novel Telling an all new story for the Doctor which hasn t been told in any other medium beforeIt runs for one hundred and seventy eight pages It has a prologue sixteen chapters And three interlude chapters Considering the books in this range used to run up to seventy pages longer the length is a bit disappointing But getting a slip jacket cover over it does perhaps make it look neater and it may last longer Too bad they cost than they used to as well but that s lifeThis feature the Tenth Doctor It is set after the events of the tv episode The Waters of Mars and if you are reading this you have doubtless seen that If not it s eleven years old so you ve had the time But in the unlikely event you haven t it may not prevent you getting into anywayThus the Doctor has no companion hereIt is part of a series of stories all being called Time Lord Victorious which see the Doctors eight nine and ten all fighting aliens called the Kotturuh Who judge other beings and impose finite lifespans on themYou don t need to have read or heard or looked at anything else in that range and there s a lot of it to get into thisThe story sees the Doctor getting caught up with the fight against the Kotturuh when trying to save a young girl from them With the assistance of a certain Ood a uest across space and time awaits As do some very hard decisionsAs ever with these books the characterisation of the Doctor is spot on With lines you could imagine him saying on tv It also really fits the period for the Tenth as he gets very caught up in dealing once again with the issues that he faced in the Waters of Mars And the issues the Kotturuh present him with as wellThere s also one great little bit of characterisation with the girl early on that s a good bit of writingThis really does utilise the prose medium to be as they often say too broad for the small screen But in doing that it doesn t uite have the focus of tv episodes or most of the other novels which were short scale After a great start I was rather having to work at this in order for it to keep my attention Which wasn t always the way with thisAlthough it does have a plot development in the middle or just beyond that to be exact that does manage to get it up to the next level of plot nicely And it does know where it is going What happens in the final third fits everything both the plot and the way the Doctor is behaving throughoutAnd the ending is utterly utterly brilliantThen comes a cliffhangerWhich will be resolved in a novel called All Flesh is Grass that is out in two months at the time of writingSo all in all worth a look It wasn t the smoothest ride at times but the ending made it worth the journey
