Characters ☆ Jewellery Illustration and Design: From Technical Drawing to Professional Rendering (Mode-Bijoux) 102 Stones bracelets and chains are graphically represented in this book as if they were real along with effects such as depth gloss and transparency AUTHORS Manuela Brambatti began her career in the fashion world in the late seventies working for Style and other fashion magazines Cosimo Vinci studied jewelry design in Florence and Vicenza His clients are international companies from small to large businesses from high end jewellery to bijoux SELLING POINTS ?. This book was both and less than I hoped for but it definitely still deserves five starsMore because it contains far than I expected it would coverLess for a number of reasons Thought that it would show examples of how they achievedat least a few of the examples One needs to have solid rendering skills Next I thought that mostillustrations while showing enough information for manufacturing didn t look finished from anadvertising or illustration aspect Then I noted on the back cover that they stated The objectiveof this book is not to showcase completed jewellery pieces They do show the colours used on anumber of faceted and non faceted stones However some are missing one or two steps To thepoint that I think that they don t want to reveal how they actually achieved what they did Theexample for lapis lazuli a blatant example I believe in the generosity of sharing information on how to and felt correctly or incorrectly that they do not With respect to rendering skills I notedthat some shading on a number of the findings was uite frankly amateurish to the point of jarringme One example would be earring closures Many of the pearls were very poorly done I understandkeeping them black and white for reproduction costs but it was far than that The examplesof how to terrible A depiction of fresh water pearls read as completely flat the shading so poorlydone Still it is just over 200 pages jam packed with a comprehensive variety of jewellery types andI would highly recommend it as a resource book In fact I d give it six stars Even if one has to developtheir rendering skills it would be an excellent resource
