Read & Download Bloodhound: A Poetry Collection 100 characters Bloodhound: A Poetry Collection Can you smell it The bloodThe hound can It will use your blood to track you down Prepare yourself for its destructive path could drain you and you'll be left with nothingthan a carcass to drag around You should seek a shaman for support it may be the only way to replenish the bloodContent warning contains themes of mental health and trauma Though my personal poetic go to s are Bukowski Ginsberg and Eliot this young poet drew me in with a strength of voice that is unusual in today s poetry market Bloodhound is a poetry collection that bares clean the rawness of the wounds of searching souls who are skewered by the pain that is only found from giving your all to a third party be it a lover or perhaps worse to your own ego driven desires and drives and having then finding themselves left gasping for oxygen and lightI am not one to hazard a guess as to what inspired this honestly self reflective exploration of her inner daemons but this doesn t matter or detract from the universality of call to the emotional commonality that we all share in this race from cradle to graveWritten in five chapters each broken down into two complementary sections the first in a lyrical poetic form that almost seemed to be the representation of the conscious mind telling the factual story from the perspective of an unreliable narrator trying tell only as much as is tolerable The story told is then complemented by the second section comprised of a series of short seemingly unrelated stanzas that have a rawness of truth in fragmented expression almost as if the subconscious mind is invoked into response to the call of the conscious mind of the first section For me this call and response echo to voicing sets up an emotional tension that allows the emotional evolution of the narrator to be experienced as we all do our own incremental understanding of our responses and only a bitter acknowledgement of the underlying truth being present but not uite understood in rational terms This for me is the strength of this work at the end you know the pain experienced at several levels but there is no full resolution of emotional tensionOn a finer grained note her use of language is lovely Some very expressive lines and surprising metaphoric expressions that I expect I will use myself in conversations in times to comeI look forward to the next effort by this poet
